INTERNATIONAL AWARD: Federation Internationale de la Medaille dıArt FIDEM XXXI, Tampere Finland  - June 2010

Commemorative medals are hand held sculptures that are made by artists
to commemorate anything of importance - global or personal.
This international exhibit is held bi-annually, in conjunction with a
conference ( congress) at a different world location each time.
The conference draws artists and collectors from all points on the
globe, as well as dignitaries of state, ambassadors, consulates, and
presidents of those countries.

The conference and exhibit is juried by experts in the field.  Each
country is allocated a set number of entries to represent that country.
So getting work accepted is no small feat.

In 2007 the event was held in Colorado Springs, CO, - one of our art
students , Elaine Swenson, had work accepted to the show, and was able
 to attend the conference.

In June of 2010 this event will be held in Tampere, Finland

I am happy and proud to announce, that two FRCC students - Elaine
Swenson, and Marcy Davis have had work accepted into this prestigious
event  - as have I.  Pictures of the medals will be posted on our site.

I encourage you to click on this link to see more information on the

FRCC Figure Drawing Policy:

The policy on the nude model is that it is a part of the community college system curriculum - and has been agreed upon by Department Heads, and Chairs - and supported by the Dean of Instruction, and an attorney for the college. The policy is that this is part of the curriculum, and can not be waived by substituting other assignments for it.  Students have the option of missing class that day as one of their allowed absences.
