Areas of Concentration

Painting Oil, acrylic, water media, and encaustic. Supports: Stretcher bar construction, canvas stretching, sizing, priming, gesso. Color mixing and theory. Mixed media and collage.

 

Drawing Charcoal, conte, ink, graphite, pastel, colored pencil techniques. Life drawing. Modeling.

 

Ceramics Customized clay bodies. Tools and equipment of the clay studio: clay mixers, extruder, slab roller, electric and kick wheels, etc. Firing: electric. Non-traditional surface treatments as well as standard glaze formulations.

Papermaking Production of unique and original paper pulp from raw materials. Sculptural forms and sheet. Construction of frames and vats. Direct application and casting.

 

Printmaking Silkscreen, Lithography, Etching, Monoprints, Linocut.

Computer Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Web design, Apple and PC.

2008-2005 UTA, University of Colorado Medical School, Center for Studies in Clinical Excellence, Fitzsimmons Campus.

I received new training in alternate teaching techniques and methodology and give instruction to 3rd year medical students.

 

2005 -1990 Figure Model, University of Colorado, University of Denver, Art Students League, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, Colorado Art Institute, Red Rocks Community College, Arapahoe Community College, Front Range Community College, Denver Darkroom, Body Forms, Colorado Academy of Art; several art groups including Boulder Figure Drawing Group, Core Gallery, Boulder Art Museum; and several individual artists and photographers.

Having observed so many talented and untalented teachers in action over the years as an art model has both improved my own teaching and education immeasurably.

 

2000 Graphic Design

Attended Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator Classes. Produced images and layouts at Front Range Community College, Boulder.

 

1989 Intern, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice, Italy.

Managed and scheduled other student interns, gave tours and talks, participated in daily operations of museum: guarding, tickets, preservation, opening and closing duties, spoke Italian.
